Publication 5 years of experience with DIBH (Deep inspiration breath-hold) combined with SGRT (Surface-Guided Radiation Therapy) in left-sided breast cancer(Thieme, 2020) ;Steffal, Claudia ;Schratter-Sehn, Annemarie U. ;Brinda-Raitmayr, Karin ;Kann, Thomas ;Mailat, Daniela ;Reiterer, JochenRadiation treatment to the left breast is associated with increased cardiac morbidity as well as mortality. Deep inspiration breath-hold (DIBH) technique with Surface Guided Radiation Therapy (SGRT) could have dosimetric advantages over the free breathing technique (NB, normal breathing) in cardiac (heart and LAD) and ipsilateral lung sparing in patients with left-sided breast cancer after surgery. Therefore this technique was implemented in 2013 at the institute of radiooncology at the KFJ/SMZ-South – Hospital Vienna.1 693 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Publication “And Now for Something Completely Different” Stimulating Interventions to Improve Academic Outcomes in Financial Accounting CoursesBased on social-psychological and motivation theories, well-crafted interventions have proven remarkably effective to improve educational outcomes in higher education. The intervention we will present in this paper focuses on promoting motivation and performance in financial accounting courses. It aims at reducing class-related boredom which is commonly experienced by students and has an impact on their learning engagement and achievements. Two university courses on financial accounting have been subject to a stimulating intervention, a short lecture in a field unrelated to accounting. The study found a hugely beneficial impact on the dropout rates as well as the average grades particularly for younger (18 to 20 years) full-time students and a somewhat smaller positive impact on the average grades for older (25 to 30 years) part-time students.269 357 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

Publication Closing the Gap Between U.S. and German Managerial AccountingThe effect of the continuous process of globalization on management functions like marketing and sales, production, or R&D is well researched. But the forces of globalization are also effective for management support functions. A good example is managerial accounting with its distinct standards and methods in different economies. Managerial, as well as financial accounting, are pretty different in German-speaking countries, compared to the United States. This may be surprising because the goals ‐ giving the public a true and fair view, and supporting managerial decisions ‐ are the same everywhere. Recently, a convergence between these systems can be observed in business practice, triggered by the development of ERP systems, by regulatory requirements, and by changes in management thinking. Our paper aims (1) to explain the deeper economic, legal and cultural reasons for the national differences in the design of accounting systems, and (2) to uncover the driving forces behind the recent development of convergence. In addition to summarizing the relevant literature, we draw from experience in implementing and assessing managerial accounting systems both in German‐speaking countries and in North America.270 416 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Publication Cognitive fit, retail shopper confusion, and shopping value: Empirical investigationShopper confusion represents a mental state often occurring in shopping situations. While extant research focuses on product-related consumer confusion, the current investigation examines store environmental retail shopper confusion. Combining research streams on store environment, environmental psychology, and categorization theory, the authors build a conceptual retail shopper confusion framework. An analysis of expert interviews and open-ended questionnaires distributed to grocery shoppers reveals a classification of retail shopper confusion causes into ambient, design, and social factors, as characterized by the environmental properties variety, novelty, complexity, and conflict. A mediation analysis by means of structural equation modeling confirms the mediating role of retail shopper confusion between cognitive fit with an environment and shopping value. Retail shopper confusion thus explains why shoppers experience low hedonic and utilitarian shopping values in certain shopping situations.1 216Scopus© Citations 79 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
Publication Country-of-Origin vs. Foreign Branding: Does Incongruent Verbal Package Information Affect Consumers' Purchase Intention? This contribution investigates under which conditions consumers can identify a product’s country of origin when confronted with conflicting information on the product package. Our study draws on current literature on the country-of-origin effect and on foreign branding, a naming strategy designed to evoke associations of a favoured origin by means of the language or spelling cues included in the brand name. The study we conducted has two major objectives. The first one is to ascertain how much attention is paid to the country-of-origin at the point of sale. The second one is to clarify whether foreign branding effects can also be found in connection with the Croatian language. Therefore, an eye-tracking experiment with a follow-up questionnaire was conducted using a student sample. Results showed that attention can be distracted from the country of origin by positioning this element on the back label. Interestingly, findings also indicated that label design, price and shelf positioning influence the buying decision more than congruency of country of origin and brand name. It can further be concluded that incongruence between the country of origin and the language of the brand name seems to be less important for German and English branded olive oils. However, the results for Croatian branded olive oils were clearly better in a condition when those elements were congruent.2 121 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings

Publication Effects of learning design patterns in service learning coursesStudents participate during service learning courses in a service project, which fits to a community need and has a link to curricular content. Students have a chance while engaged in the service project to apply curricular content in community practice, where they gain insights into civic engagement activities. Empirical studies revealed the effects of service learning, such as its influence on the self-concept, self-efficacy or attitudes to be engaged. However, a lack of research regarding the link between learning design patterns and the effectiveness of service learning can be found. Learning design patterns are teaching or methodical interventions to support the learning and service process of the students. This article presents a study on the experiences of students and charitable organizations in a service learning course concerning the learning design patterns. A mixed-methods design including questionnaires and interviews has been used. Significant effects regarding students’ development of their self-efficacy, self-concept and attitude to being engaged were found. The qualitative results provide a deeper understanding of these changes, including the different perspectives from students and from charitable organizations. The results show differences in the learning design patterns perceived and its support for the service and learning process.1 66Scopus© Citations 50 - Some of the metrics are blocked by yourconsent settings
