Item type:Publication, Studiengangsübergreifender MOOC zum Aufbau wissenschaftlicher Kompetenzen(Leykam, 2021); Anlässlich des steigenden Bedarfs an Fernlehreelementen an der FH Burgenland entwickelte ein interdisziplinäres Team des Departments Gesundheit im Studienjahr 2020/21 einen Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) für alle Studierenden des Departments Gesundheit zum Thema „Wissenschaftliches Arbeiten“. Dieser Kurs stellt die multimediale Form der „Richtlinie zur Erstellung wissenschaftlicher Arbeiten im Department Gesundheit“ dar. Neben der Vermittlung von Lehrinhalten, unter anderem mithilfe von Erklärvideos, Checklisten und Textseiten, inkludiert der MOOC zahlreiche good-practice-Beispiele. Zudem weist er einen hohen Übungscharakter auf. Durch das gemeinsame Commitment aller Studiengänge ist es möglich, dass Lehrende aller Fachbereiche im Department Gesundheit den MOOC im Rahmen der asynchronen Fernlehre einsetzen. Zusätzlich hat jeder bzw. jede Studierende die Möglichkeit, sich individuell orts- und zeitunabhängig in einzelnen Feldern des wissenschaftlichen Arbeitens bzw. der sozialwissenschaftlichen Methoden zu vertiefen. The text begins by exploring Sri Lanka's intricate history and cultural diversity, reflecting the influences from various ethnic communities and colonial rule. It then navigates through the country's recent developments, including the brutal civil war, economic crisis, and COVID-19 pandemic. In the educational landscape, the article delves into the structure and content of Sri Lanka's educational system, highlighting the commitment to universal and free education, a 93 % literacy rate, and the diverse types of schools, but also pointing out disparities between urban and rural areas and gender biases. Special emphasis is placed on the structure, challenges, and potential reforms within teacher education. This includes detailed insights into pre-service and in-service teacher training, the unique challenges in peripheral areas, the need for innovative pedagogical strategies, and the role of various governmental and educational entities. The article concludes by synthesizing the insights into a call for a comprehensive, context-specific, and adaptive approach towards teacher education, aiming to create a robust and equitable system aligned with the needs of 21st-century learners. The analysis integrates historical, cultural, educational, and economic perspectives to provide a cohesive understanding of Sri Lanka's complex educational landscape and offers targeted recommendations for transformative change.72
